Anxiety or a Panic Attack?
Doesn't seem likely.
Now here's the story:
This past week my father-in-law was in a terrible accident on his way home.
It's not good at all.
I'm not going to say much more about it as to not freak my blog readers out but if you want to, please visit his Facebook page for more info.
This week has been a struggle.
I'm very upset about it and I've been crying all the time.
I feel so helpless and can't even bring myself to call my mom or my mother-in-law because I know they'll both be crying too.
Last night I was having a really hard time and ended up crying myself to sleep in my son's bed.
I woke up this morning feeling sick to my stomach and had a sore throat and headache.
I didn't want to go to my husband's work meeting with him, I wanted to stay home and cry but I knew I had to be there.
I wanted to curl up and die.
Why do I feel like it's okay to be sad about his death?
I've never even met him, yet Attack? learn the difference between the two &how it relates to you!
Anxiety Attack - the symptom was - like you've never been afraid in your life, you feel very cold & rigid, and your mind goes very fast.
- overthinking, stressed out & can't shut down
I'm scared to death my marriage is about to go downhill, my husband will cheat on me, divorce me, or he'll die.
I'm terrified of losing my husband, my protector, and the one person who makes me feel loved.
I just don't want to give up on my marriage, but how can I hold on?
I feel like I'm going crazy, I can't think straight, and feel like I'm losing it.
I'm having a strong anxiety attack, I'm hyperventilating and can't even speak.
Please help me.
It's normal to feel this way.
If you wake up feeling like your life is spinning out of control, then it probably is.
It's called a panic attack and your body needs oxygen to get the blood moving, otherwise, you will pass out or die.
Unfortunately, your body doesn't always do the right thing when it comes to oxygen levels.
Think of your body as a car, and your brain as the gas pedal.
Your body will go into overdrive to get the oxygen the brain needs.
Anxiety attacks are the body's way of preventing you from dying.
When I had a full-blown anxiety attack, I kept thinking my husband was going to die.
I was convinced I couldn't handle everything on my own and he needed to leave.
You will probably feel like you're having a heart attack because it's that extreme.
Try breathing slow.
Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Count to 5 and keep breathing.
Breathing helps to slow the pace of your heartbeat.
If you keep having one a day then you need to go to your doctor and get help.

I'm going to say this a little differently than usual because I think you need to hear this, and a lot of people will agree with me because they have been there.

You should take a moment every once in a while to check your mind and your heart.
Everyone is busy, but being busy doesn't mean you are checking on yourself as much as you should.
A lot of us don't take good care of ourselves mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Take time to look yourself over, and take note if anything needs to be changed.
I go to the doctor for my check-ups to make sure I'm healthy.
My physical health is important.
I talk to my doctor about my mental health, I ask her if there's anything I can do, if there's anything I'm doing that needs changing.
You should also find out what your family history is, even if you think you don't have any family issues.
Do some research.
Your family history can play a major role in how you deal with things in your life.
Some people don't know they have a problem and so do you.
I have a few family members who have mental health issues, and I have a cousin who has schizophrenia.
I remember one time I asked my cousin, "What does that feel like? What's it like being on a different planet?"
He replied, "Oh, it's like being on a different planet."
My cousin is 37 years old, and he doesn't know how to handle things like how to take medication, what's going on when he sees "crazy people" or when he hears other people screaming.
It's crazy how we just don't know sometimes what's going on in our heads.
Having said all of that, are you aware that your mind is a "mystery" that no one knows about?
"Stuff" keeps going on in your head that you can't even comprehend.
You have to understand that sometimes your mind can go haywire and go places you never intended for it to go.
Don't be surprised if you have a blank stare.
If you don't have a headache or something on your chest, think about something that makes you happy, a funny thing that happened to you.
I used to always think about friends or situations I had gone through and I found a lot of comfort in those thoughts.
Just letting those feelings out helped me a lot.
Sometimes when I was feeling low, I would put on a funny movie and laugh a lot.
There are a lot of lonely people.
It can be very hard to go through the day sometimes by yourself.
This is why it's important to have friends to confide in.
I encourage you to spend more time with your friends and your loved ones.
Be there for them in a real way.
Let them be there for you too.
Also, make sure that you take time to take care of yourself.
Make sure you have a hobby that you love to do.
Take care of yourself physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually.
Taking care of your mind is as important as taking care of your body.
It's also very important to listen to music that makes you happy.
Even if you're in a bad mood, I promise you that listening to music will lift your mood.
It could be about a singer or a band you like or your favorite song.
Listening to music or going for a walk can also help.
When I go for a walk I always sing.
I just put some music on and sing as I walk.
People think it's kind of crazy, but I think people just don't listen.
The people who know me know how important music is to me.
Please don't be afraid to tell someone you are having trouble or that you're worried about yourself.
In the world today, a lot of people have problems.
They're looking for someone to talk to about their problems.
Most people who are down and depressed do not feel comfortable opening up to their friends.
Don't be afraid to talk to someone and get the help you need.
Don't try to "suck it up".
It's going to make things worse for you and others.
Sometimes in life, people think it's going to be all right and that they can handle it on their own.
You may be upset, depressed, or feel like you can't do anything right, but that's not true.
The truth is that we all have a lot of help and support in this world.
Your family, friends, and anyone who cares about you are there for you.
Just remember to reach out and ask for help when you need it.
A couple of years prior, I composed a blog named, "What's in your wallet?"
I did a study on people's wallets to figure out what was in there.
I was stunned at the contents.
Only about a quarter of what was in their wallets were credit cards and cash.
Most of what was in there were photos, coupons, chewing gum, and a little bit of change.
I was surprised because I've been doing this "money thing" for years and it seems like I see people's wallets all the time and rarely do I see anything in there.
I always wonder what's going on in their head.
Were they using their money?
Did they save it or spend it?
Are they planning to pay their bills or save the

The people who have a mental illness can also help other people to understand their illness.
Many people may have had friends who have suffered from depression or other mental illnesses.
By listening to your friends, you can help someone else get through a difficult situation.
I think there are many things we can learn from other people.
We should also listen to their problems and experiences so that we can better understand them.
When you listen to someone, you will learn things about yourself.
Your life will be enriched by their perspective.
Listen to your friends' stories and ask them questions.
It will open up a window into their lives.
I'm a big fan of "It's A Wonderful Life" and I believe everyone can learn something from that movie.
The main lesson is that you need to listen to people around you and really listen.
Most of the time, they're not just talking, they're just trying to tell you something important.
It's going to cost you some time and effort to learn to listen, but if you're looking to improve your relationships with others, this is a crucial skill.
It's a good habit to have anyway.
It's very important to learn how to make healthy food choices, but it's also important to spend some time with healthy foods.
I used to think that if I ate healthily, I would gain weight.
I was very skinny and I knew that I was going to get fatter.
But once I started eating healthily, I ended up feeling healthier and losing weight.
It was that simple.
Being a chronic snacker and not eating a proper meal when I was full was one of my biggest mistakes.
Eating something healthy when I was hungry was the only way I managed to make my body feel and look healthy.
Eating a big plate of vegetables is a good idea.
Many healthy foods are high in calories, but that's a good thing because they are going to keep you full until you eat another meal.
But of course, we're all different, and some people like food that is high in fat and high in calories.
This is fine if you enjoy eating fatty and calorie-laden foods.
I try to eat mostly healthy food and make up for the calories I eat with exercise.
But that's just my own opinion.
No one should tell you what to eat, so please don't tell me what to eat.
